- Make sure all colors in Quark are set to “Process”. If you are unaware where these settings are, go to Edit > Edit Colors. All colors that are set to “Spot”, click on the particular color to edit and check the process box. Click “OK”.
- Make sure all Illustrator .eps and Photoshop .tif files are set to CMYK color mode.
- Set all illustrator fonts to outlines. To ensure that you have all fonts within your document converted to outlines, select all, then hit “Convert to Outlines”. If this box is grayed out, all fonts in the document have been set to outlines.
- All photoshop files need to be 300 dpi. If the image is less than 300 dpi, a loss of quality may occur. If the image is more than 300 dpi, please resample the image to 300 dpi.
- Make sure that all fonts in the document are packaged together. There should be a screen font and a printer font for each font used.
Spot Color in Quark:
- Make sure all of your colors are set to spot.
- Make sure all embedded images are .tif or .eps formats.
- Make sure that you package both the printer AND
the screen fonts. If you are including a True Type font out
of Quark
Express, please follow steps 3a to 3c.
3a. Convert your composite image by exporting it as an .eps.
3b. Import the .eps file into Adobe Illustrator and convert the text to outlines.
3c. Save the .eps as an .eps out of illustrator.
- Package the composite materials, fonts and images into a folder.
- Compress the file using WinZip or Stuffit.
